On Creating Economic Sustainability in Agriculture- Conceptualizing Precautionary Principle

The Precautionary Principle is an accepted principle prominent in legal doctrines and management rules for environmental resources. The essential issue is one of how to measure and guide policies to reduce the impact of environmental and other influences on life and well being. This presentation will outline some of the principle debates in the area and point out its pertinence to rural and in particular agricultural economies.
